need help designing a open plan kitchen, living, dining area
Comments (6)Hello Jeannette, what a lovely project! I've worked on a number of bungalows and they have their own unique challenges. Making the spaces work for our needs today, and for your own family needs have to be the priorities. I would suggest you appoint an interior designer before thinking in detail about the kitchen. An interior designer will find out how you want to use the space and come up with clever floor plan that is workable and beautiful. This is going to be a really important investment for you. I would love to help - I couldn't advise in any detail without seeing the property and of course, without meeting you. Very best wishes Yasmin....See MoreNeed help with my kitchen design for rear extension
Comments (11)Definitely no way!! You would regret losing part of the view to the garden. And it just doesn't make sense to have a bathroom off kitchen. Either do as bagpuss' plan above, or use that whole space for a shower/ bathroom if you need more facilities. If it was me, I'd like a utility area somewhere, perhaps you could combine this with shower room? Or have two separate rooms, wc and a single wall utility. If you do any laundry at home it is useful to have a dedicated space for this. Mine is approx 1.5m square but I'd be lost without it!! Attached pic of one Houzz one I like (seems to have popped into the middle somehow!) Wouldn't have to be this big even. And although it depends on your budget, I'd definitely try and get a pitch roof or a lantern in that ceiling to let in more natural light....See MoreNeed help with my kitchen design
Comments (7)Induction hob is ok for any kitchen layout or style, infact they are the new 'way of cooking' in kitchens. We have sold a lot of induction hobs with our kitchens and we've had good feedback from all our customers. I think an extractor fan is a must, it removes moisture and smell from the air, there are some great downdraft extractor fans, if you're looking to have your hob on the island a downdraft is a great choice, they are quiet and easy to use, and most likely once you have it installed you will use it. Have a look at the images attached....See MoreWill I have any space between Island and kitchen unit?
Comments (15)It's Schuller and the designer only drew what I wanted. He hasn't given me any alternative layouts yet. Do you think they will make another design for me before I sign the contract? To be honest, It's been so so hard for choosing a kitchen brand because of people's attitude in the North East. I went to Howdens and Wren as well as Bespoke but the owner of Howdens wasn't nice and didn't give me any information because I asked for a business account and mentioned about my builder who has a very good partnership with him. So he didn't want to give me any prices. Wren's designer was very rude and had a terrible attitude but I quite liked Wren's true handleless design only if I had a well mannered designer. Bespoke designer was very experienced and quite liked but they don't make true handleless. Also he said I have to be committed other than that he wouldn't give me any quote and if I am not buying it's wasting his time. I couldn't believe he said that. Lastly, I went to Schuller and I expected that it will be very expensive but it was actually a lot less than Wren and designer and the owner was so polite and quality in my eyes was very good. All in all quite happy with them except they don't make custom sizes....See MoreHayley Douglass
