Care of copper surfaces?

Hello, this is just breathtakingly beautiful! But won’t the copper oxidise and go green over time? Or does it have a special finish to prevent that? How do you clean it hygienically while maintaining its beauty?

Hi there, thank you so much, we are so in love with the look of copper, its warm glow, its organic and unique swirls, it's both glamorous but very natural too!

When it comes to caring for copper, it's very important to stay away from harsh chemical cleaners, or abrasive scourers, as these can scratch and bleach the metal. The best thing to do for everyday cleaning is just to wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, then thoroughly dry the surfaces afterwards to avoid streaks on the worktop. For more stubborn marks we like to use 'Bar Keepers Friend' or a soft cloth dipped in a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice. Copper has a long history of being used for worktops and has amazing inherent antibacterial properties, so it's actually a really great option in terms of hygiene.

Over time your copper worktops will develop a really beautiful patina, which will be individual to you, but as the oxide layer in our copper is very low, you won't experience any green hues in the metal.

firstly , Are you sure that the cooper tile can not be cut around your sockets ? i'm sure it can be possible to be done , it does take time ,precision,patients and a professional with the right tools to do it, they are called Tile fitters, secondly, choosing a cooper veneer is actually a brilliant idea,comes in many colours designs and materials and cheap to create (it is somethings i can supply and fit.) it would be good idea to glue the veneer on to a mdf board and then measure, cut then install, the right trade people to do or can do are called kitchen fitters or a carpenters,

Hi Peter, We love using copper for kitchen surfaces. Its relatively easy to take care of (we use teak oil) but you can pretty much make it look as distressed as you like depending on what treatment/seals you use. How to age copper sheet?

I don't think that is aged / weathered copper as that would be green. It looks like it had some sort of burnishing done by a polishing machine, wire wool or similar + mottled effect created by a mild acid droplet spray or water spray. You could probably bond the copper to a plywood or mdf sheet with appropriate construction adhesive and mitre and bend the sides round to lip the short edges. Suggest you do some more research with some of the copper cladding manufacturers like Tecu. I think this would be very expensive though. A cheaper alternative could be to use a decorative metal effect laminate from Formica, Fundermax or Egger, good luck!
