floor colour/type help needed

We are getting light (ash) wood, handleless kitchen cupboards with concrete effect work
surfaces. The kitchen is fairly small and in
a ‘horseshoe’ formation but with a fair amount of light, 2 walls with a large window making up the the 3rd. No idea what to do with the floor material or ‘colour’.

A soft patterned floor tile would be a wondeful addition, and a great way to add an accent colour.

thank you the house is 1960s so that would be perfect, the other half is sadly not keen on patterns though

All three photos were taken on overcast days. In the 2nd and 3rd photos, you can see that there are a lot of windows, all south facing, so the space does receive a lot of sunlight normally. Also, I have the pot lights on for 2nd and 3rd photos. Additional photos show that the nice fuzzy cream rug is actually way too small for the space, and I have no table lamps or coffee table. Also, our furniture is old, so time to update. The dining nook and kitchen are all in the one big open space. You can see the colour of the kitchen cabinets in the last shot: cherry with a brown stain. Stools are similar, The curtains are from Ikea and are a little lighter than the trim. I am thinking about getting dark brown woven shades. I love the idea of white walls, but just a little timid. The green looks pretty good in these photos... maybe I should just finish off the rooms with a large area rug, coffee table, lamps and a few accessories and call it a day? My next house will be more modern with white walls (hopefully)!

Hello Rudolfdzin, That's quite a place!!!... I would suggest a light tile yes...Stone or something similar.. Mandarine Stone is a good place to look... I also think that you could have a large mirror in that adjoining area with all the chairs... I would also consider looking at the furnishings and possibly update to compliment the look of the house...I would move the rug from that adjoining room and place it somewhere else... I have attached a few things that would be amazing in your place... : ))

It may depend on the actual colour of the concrete worktop. There are lots of greys, some appear quite cool and veer towards blue, actual poured concrete is usually a 'yellow' grey and so looks warmer. Knowing the real colour will help to narrow down your choices. My gut feeling would be huge format porcelain tiles from Mandarin Stone. They do lots of colours.

Hi, I don’t have any photos sorry (the kitchen is not fitted yet!)
The concrete is a cool grey (no real warmth to it) the porcelain tiles sound lovely.
