We rent unfurnished, so always have our own furniture around us. I don't go in TOO much for the soft furnishings (rugs, cushions, curtains, throws), as they are cluttersome and really interefere with a low-maintenance life. Moreover, sadly, my posters, paintings and photographs have had to stay in storage for about five years, due to increasing fussiness by landlords/ -ladies about holes in the walls. HOWEVER, it is crucial to have ENOUGH of your own things around you, so that the web of YOUR things covers over a space which is, essentially, not yours. Minimalism has definite limits. Our last place had revolting dull mustard yellow walls, which definitely needed covering! Bookcases (with books!), a folding screen/ room divider, tension rods to create hanging rails, and one big rug (for the sitting room) come with us everywhere, like the interior of some sort of nomad's yurt! Seasonal and fresh decorations are another way to decorate a temporary home, and they leave only biodegradable waste, rather than broken MDF or shattered plastic! Leaf-skeletons on a string and rosehip-studded twigs (snap off the thorns!) for autumn (Fall). Holly, ivy and dried wildflowers for winter. Fresh wildflowers for spring and summer. Herbs in the kitchen.

Cushions are definitely a nice addition to a bed when it comes to comfort and cosiness. Rich, fluffy cushions add to the feeling you want to have when you are in bed: you want to feel relaxed. Besides, although they can be a pain to remove before sleeping if you have too many of them, they upgrade your bed to the next design level. I have 5 cushions, all of them rectangular and fluffy. I have mixed the colours, patterns, and textures in order to make my bed stand out: a nice trick for that is to use white sheets, and vivid and colourful cushions to contrast with the whiteness of the bed. Plain velvety mustard yellow and fushia plain cushions mixed with green geometric patterns, ... I've got them all!

Hello, If she is a teenager already I would suggest you to decorate the bedroom according to her age and don't make it look too childish. You could consider decorating it nicely, I actually collected some pictures to show you what I was thinking about. Despite the fact that is a small room, it's always nice to interact with the surrounding and engaging the eyes with some ornaments, wall art, colourful images, posters, etc. Wallpaper could look very pretty too, but something more sophisticated, with some stylish/elegant pattern. Why not add some mirror/s to make the space look bigger and brighter? Creating a feature wall is also a great idea, covered in a different colour or just in wallpaper. The chandelier could be the outstanding piece of the bedroom. Furniture: I pretty much like the style of this bed, perhaps you can find something similar to this. Weekly? Oh, how I wish it were only weekly. I'm out there nearly every day culling the three-cornered leek that has reappeared as a thick blanket despite me culling it in the first spring I was here, in my new house, then finding it had reappeared hugely aggressively last year and now, in my third spring, it's even thicker and even more widespread - and is now not only in the flower beds but also in the lawn, thick along the edge, scattered within it. Front and back. It takes about two hours to clear about a square yard - digging under the bulbs; banging off the (very good, I've been told) soil in which there are always several earthworms which I need to hang on to (obviously); then picking out the tiniest bulbs left behind. I don't think I can ever finish it this year - as happened last year - which means the problem will go on for decades. I don't really have the time (I need to work, I need a life beyond digging and clearing). The only solution I can think of is to bring in help but my budget won't allow that. I value having lawn so paving it over isn't an option. I will have less planting space, which will eventually mean less weeding, but it's not something I can do right now - I've too much to do to bring the indoors up to date. I disagree with Jo DP. The previous owners had a keep it wild policy and now I have this big problem with a massively invasive plant. And, yes, I have tried using it in recipes - it really isn't worth the effort of keeping it under control (to have a limited supply). I'm an experienced and adventurous cook and three-cornered leek is an overrated ingredient, even though it's free and in my garden.
