Ugly kitchen pipes...advice needed

We are having our kitchen redone next month and we hate the central heating pipes which run from our bedroom down into the kitchen and then across the wall into the utility room. Had a quote to bury them into the walls but quite expensive plus they would need to get under bedroom floor boards which has just been decorated and carpeted and worry about pipes leaking or plaster cracking in the future. Other option is to have a tall radiator which would hide the pipes coming down the wall somewhat but still be exposed across the door frame and wall....any advice or other options appreciated
