New Build Steel Cladding Help!

last year

Due to start a New Build West Coast of Scotland and would like it clad in Steel (Box Profile) clad walls and Steel clad 'V' Line profile roof cladding. Anyone any ideas for companies willing to supply for domestic use or alternatives?

I know a local company to me which are steel stockholders, it could be worth contacting them as they supply a very large selection of steel. They are called P&D Northern Steels. Hope this helps.

To balance hard modern lines and surfaces I agree that anything that adds 'life' to the room is good i.e. anything colourful, organic, or that reflects individual character. So I would go with some wooden items and/ or a wooden floor, plants to bring life, colourful or interesting textures in the soft furnishings. You don't have to go all out with colourful furniture. You can use cushions and rugs for this and the best thing is they can be changed fairly easily if you fancy a new look at a later stage. Original artwork (painting or sculpture) or interesting lamps are great if you can afford. Photos and books (!) bring personality and show that real people do live here. My rule of thumb is that you don't want your home to look like a showhouse. You want it to have life and to reflect your personality. You don't have to go all crazy cat-lady with loads of kooky clutter but a few elements to break up the monotony will really help. Stellahome, your house looks lovely btw! I also love the idea of using interesting or asymmetrical bookcases. You could get a carpenter to knock up something interesting or better yet, do it yourself if you have the skills.

it all depends on how much degree (eg: 15 22 32 45 etc )the roof is and the loads its going hold , my advise is contact your building control office to inspect your loft conversion again, that is there job, im sure that is why you are paying for there advises?

I'd like a little more space to move around (and not bump my head) in both bedroom and bathroom. So in this case I'd opt for a bed near the balcony, because it would give a little more space to prevent the sink/toilet from going under the stairs. Having lived in a single room apartment (25m2) for years -and I loved it- I know making it flow and practical is so very important. Personally I did not mind my bed being used as a sofa too, but I did have quite a deep closet, so I could hang my clothes on the door (that didn't need washing yet) and had quite a large bathroom, so my dirty clothes were in a hamper.

Hi Rosey, Hope these answers help: There are plenty of different ways you could redesign the space so it would be good to get really clear on what you want to base designs on. For the drains this is not that unusual, and is likely to mean that it is a shared drain, so it's owned by your water utility company. This might be worth checking. Yes any raised external platform / patio would need planning permission and may be refused on the grounds of overlooking and reducing the neighbours privacy.
