Jazz up my outside bar

I have an outside bar and seating area but I feel its missing something in the seating area part, I was thinking of an artificial fern wall around it? And maybe a different flooring to break it up from the patio? It's still closed up for winter so all the furniture is not usually packed in like this

I think some large pots with plants to introduce some greenery would immediately liven it up. An outdoor rug would be good, and I imagine when it’s in use, you’d have some colourful or patterned cushions & throws too. Some different textures - natural wood / rattan would also be good.

Outdoors rugs are fabulous and you can leave them out in the rain with no harm. It really does need some greenery. Maybe some evergreen shrubs in pots? Apart from watering when dry, evergreens are easy to care for. What about some solar lights too?

OK, I normally do gardens, but here's my take..... You kitchen is very similar to ours, which we've lived with for a few years now. Based on our experience, I'd move the sink to be opposite the cooker, with dishwasher adjacent and a ready-use plate rack over/adjacent (most people use dishwashers these days, so having the food preparation area by the window is more meaningful). You might also want to think about swapping the sink and cooker sides, since the route for dirty plates is from the dining table to the peninsula, to the dishwasher/sink. The peninsula is too narrow - this is where everything gets "dumped", so more surface area, creeping round the corner, will be much more useful: also, instead of a rounded end, a square end with cutlery drawers etc. would fit with the route of flow from kitchen to table. Agree with Ash that moving the door to the utility would work better - clear route of flow from dining area to the door without going into the more confined kitchen space. If you have an american style fridge-freezer along the bottom wall, say, you might want a second, under-unit fridge near the food prep area, for things you use all the time (thus preserving the traditional "work triangle"). Oh, and make sure you have a little spice cupboard right next to the cooker!

My plan shows steps down from the kitchen to the garden room as I noticed the wc was on a lower level. I still prefer my plan because:- you end up with a bigger living room (on the first floor) and the plan suggests there is a balcony outside these windows; you move the dining room to the entrance level and then put an opening to the hallway so that the hall seems bigger and your first impression is improved; the front basement room will have the most limited outlook and light so in my opinion should be a gym or guest room, you have a kitchen in the heart of the house; you have a living space at a likely similar height to the garden; the main bedroom moves up a floor to a likely quieter position; the guest rooms all have fewer stairs for the parents; and you don’t have to take out major walls to achieve this. But of course this is all based on the plans provided but you know your house best. Perhaps now you are getting some ideas you should consider the available budget and explore some of the layouts with a designer or concept planner.

Improve kerb appeal of my house plans

I am converting my bungalow to a house. The plans have been approved and I'm wondering how I can maximise the kerb appeal. I'm planning for; Red roof tiles, k render top half of the house in polar white and red brick for the lower half. I then want windows that are Painswick / Agate grey (similar RAL colours are RAL7038 OR RAL7035). The windows are all set at ceiling height so I can't raise them but I'd love to have one of these longer windows that you see on houses nowadays, (say about 40% longer than it is currently). I don't particularly need this but from the outside do you think this would improve the look of the house? If so which window should I make the longer one? Any other ideas on how to improve the kerb appeal? The colours that I am thinking of putting together will they work? Any suggestions are welcomed. In terms of windows; I am thinking plain glass only, or a cross through each pane or 1 horizontal bar in the middle of each pane. What do you think? What colour front door? This is the front elevation Below is a picture of a house that I like and could model ours on this basis, the only difference is I will have red bricks on the lower half of the house. I would like something that is not ultra modern as I do not want to end up with a house that looks dated, but I do like the modern exteriors too! Any ideas? Thanks

Should we block up our pantry

Wow thank you all so much for your comments and inputs. I should have mentioned before that we are also planning on blocking up the door from hall into the kitchen which will allow for more kitchen cupboards and work surfaces once the wall has come down. I have mocked up two versions of the kitchen on a design website; one with and one without the pantry. Would love to hear your thoughts (please ignore the colours, I have found that feature of the website particularly temperamental!) More details on the pantry: we think it is single walled and therefore pretty cold in there, it also gets wider towards the back (70cm) and slopes down. At one point we were hoping to stack the tumble dryer on top of the washing machine in there however the door and front of the pantry is slightly too narrow (55cm wide). Yes coming into spring I have an outdoor rug that I put down and cushions and throws, I do have a few big plants that I moved out for the winter
