How to paint an internal rendered wall?

I would like advice on how to paint an internal living room wall that has been taken back to the rendered scratch coat, circa 1947. This is to negate having the wall re-plastered and subsequently becoming a feature wall. What prep does it require & can I use the same interior emulsion that I would use on the other plastered
walls? Thanks in advance. James

Oh I'm seeing a double sided fireplace ! Don't know if it can be done lol but worth checking on. I've always wanted one! What a great thing to find this stone wall. I would not put a baseboard on that wall. If it needs some repair do that and go with it.!

I love natural stone walls so I would leave it as it is. Natural stone walls are always finishing with larger top stones. Yorkshire is full of them! As already said, imagine how filthy the wall would get if it was rendered. I think the abundance of planting definitely needs thinning out. It must make the house very dark. I’m not saying chop it all down, just thin out the number of shrubs/trees. Here are a couple of examples of stone walls in thr country with larger top stones.

Thanks E D and Shjuly! Some more pictures to help explain are attached. The first one is the internal view looking out towards the retaining wall as it is now. The retaining wall is north facing but the patio doors facing it (on the black extension) are south facing. There is light streaming in the patio doors during summer but as we're on a slope and it's near a hedge, in winter when the sun is low in the sky, I'm not anticipating it to be as bright. We do have a roof lantern in the space and another set of doors on the other side so I'm hoping the space should be light-filled regardless of the season. The plan is to pave the area between the patio doors and the wall but the area is too tight to have a table or chairs outside so it will really be an entry way and a space into which the doors can open on warm sunny days and evenings when we are entertaining. We will have our dining table adjacent to those patio doors in the first pic. I've mocked up (very poorly) the wall in black and white in the other two pics. at this point, we are leaning towards painting it black with potentially some larch vertical cladding added to the lower portion of the wall (by the bi-folds) at a later stage.

Do you have updated pics with the new windows in? I think the windows alone will make a difference and then you can decide colour or whatever. Oh, and I dont think there is anything wrong with pebble dash! We have it all round our bungalow, we just had the back finished with sliding doors added and it was finished with pebble dash to match the existing - I know it sounds awful to some but it looks good. Also, I would avoid the grey. For me, internal walls are ok painted grey, walls easy enough to paint again when sick of the grey, but outside on your whole house is not an easy job to re-do in a couple years.
