Ideas for how to make this chalet bungalow look better?

Hello. Considering buying this bungalow but we don't like the look of the outside. Particularly the dormer windows. It was built in the 1930's. We wouldn't want to spend too much, as we would want to extend out the back somehow to create an open plan kitchen and living area as it has a large garden. Any ideas for updating and giving it more street appeal would be gratefully received. Or any ideas for extension layout ( perhaps including garage) would help a lot as well for our decision whether to buy or not. Thank you.
