Kitchen Extension, Pendant lighting when breakfast bar under the steel
Comments (12)Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. It's quite similar to this but i think slimmer (it doesn't seem to be available now :/ ) http://www.litecraft.co.uk/quartz-rectangular-led-ceiling-pendant-chrome In fact it's really similar to the one shown by Modus above ! Will be following this thread with interest to see how you progress !...See MoreHelp! Taken wall down in kitchen, breakfast bar or small dining table?
Comments (3)Hi HH, I think the "liberated" corner next to the window would look better with table and chairs. If you build a bar with stools you will live some space unused and the kitchen will become very long creating an energetic tunnel between the doors. There is many doors in your kitchen... It is not recommendable to work, cook or sleep in such a tunnel as in long term it can have negative influence on people. The table would close the kitchen space and stop this energy making the whole kitchen more cosy. It's still small space so please avoid black or dark furnitures as the "eat" a lot of natural light and make it look smaller. Don't forget to put some small plants around when you have everything done ;) /Marcin...See MoreHelp choosing tiles for flooring in my new kitchen??
Comments (50)Hi Getty Welty What a shame about the worktop but I think it's almost a blessing in disguise. Once you have settled on the worktop my advice would be to take samples of the cupboards & worktop to a tile shop and look at them altogether. You really need to see a large tile together with the other samples to appreciate the overall look. A 10 x 10 sample is only a representation of the whole tile and the colour changes on a larger scale. We always advise our customers to do that if possible as its really important to make sure the overall tones work well together. Good luck with it all Karen...See MoreHelp on choosing kitchen worktop and flooring
