What colour goes with Grey
Comments (13)Grey goes with everything, I love it! In my kitchen I have white cupboards with a green grey granite top and I've just jazzed it up with one of my prints at the back of one of the counters and some old brightly coloured Fortnum and Mason tins to give it some colour. Primary colours will keep it very modern so yellow, red or blue. However the wrong grey can sometimes be quite cold and as the kitchen is the hub of most homes you want it to feel cosy, so maybe the yellow/ red side of the spectrum would counteract that. Saying that though my print is of a peacock wearing emeralds and I don't think the space looks any colder for it. I would just say keep it bright and energetic (maybe a coloured splashback or tiles, or just get some pretty ornaments/ toasters/ scales to liven it up) , if the place looks cold and uninviting cooking won't be so much fun!...See MorePutting in a new kitchen - what colour scheme with bright red Aga?
Comments (16)I think you need to start with the F&B colour card. Hold it up against the walls in the kitchen. See what appeals and what looks dim and boring. Then get tester pots of the colours you like and paint large pieces of cardboard and place those around the room. It will give you an idea of what works in your kitchen. Since you already have the floor(? In another part of the house?), you can see which ones work with the floor too. I like your idea of grey with a green undertone. If I'm not mistaken I think Downpipe has a blue undertone. F&B suggest colour combos on their website. Could you post photos of your kitchen? So we can see the space?...See Morewhat colour goes with F&B Skimming Stone?
Comments (20)Skimming Stone looks stunning with blues, including navy, and also pink/red colours. If you think of it as a berry tone, it looks great with everything else in that range: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, gooseberries and green leaves. Also, I can vouch that it goes well with Strong White. I have Strong White in my hallway, and Skimming Stone in my living room. I agree that Elephants Breath is ver ‘lilac’, but it works when contrasted with Strong White and All White....See MoreWhat colour furniture goes well with mahogany?
Comments (15)If you want to neutralize the orangey-red tones in the mahogany, and it sounds like maybe that is what you are seeking since you don't want more of it and you have considered painting it, then you will not want to pair it with a complimentary color, like greens and blues. The blue-green colors (complimentary) will actually accentuate the orange-y red tones. If you are seeing a lighter feel in general, then you will want to use light neutral paint colors that have undertones that are adjacent on the color wheel, like a creamy white with a salmon undertone or a beige with a slight pink undertone. In your textiles, you may want to play with the complimentary colors, but by placing the complimentary color right next to the wood, it will enhance the woods undertones that you probably aren't enthusiastic about. Agree on the brass tones, but look to the new brass tones and finishes. If you get too brassy or too shiny/laminated you may end up getting an outdated feel look and not something fresh and current. Remember, if you decide to paint, prime a large section of your wall BEFORE putting any samples up. I recommend a 4x4 square. Then test one color at a time in a 2x2 square inside that primed area. When selecting your wall colors, narrow your choices to 3-4 and prioritize them by your favorites. You can learn more about how to choose wall colors in this downloadable info sheet. https://paradigmfl.com/painting-without-the-pain/ As far as coordinating woods that are not mahogany. I am a big believer in varying your wood tones and mixing them. To successfully mix woods you need to look at the variation of color in the mahogany itself and choose a wood tone from those variations.. You may find that there are some deep chocolate tones and striations in there. I would use those to add wood into your room. Even if the mahogany doesn't have a lot of variation, I am thinking a deep espresso tone or a chocolately walnut would work well with the mahogany. Another pro also advised to use metal and marble. These would be beautiful and would have a classic look. Hope that was helpful!...See MoreSonia
