Help creating a stepped terrace down to backyard

Hi All
Can you give me some advice on how to approach creating some sort of terraces steps done the side of my house?
I have seen YouTube videos of steps down the side of a house built using frames built using 6x6. Should I approach this the same way?
My main concern is the very top corner at the base of the porch. (See final photo with close up of my makeshift “retaining wall” which is just posts stacked on top of each other at the moment)
Should I create some sort of a frame, attach it to the main porch foundation post and then keep stepping down - it’s a 6 ft drop in a very short space.
Any help much appreciated
