I think that people mostly wallpaper all their walls, or, just one feature wall (usually the one you face when sitting) I was looking at the thread of emails and Moniker sent 2 pictures right at the beginning that I think look fab. A few subtle changes in your room that would make a big difference are getting bigger bedside lamps and getting a large statement piece of art or perhaps even a large mirror instead (which would make the space look lighter and brighter too) I'm not sure what your budget is but changing the carpet to a neutral cream or taupe would also help tie the room together. I'd personally dress the window with a simple Roman blind or roller blind a bit bigger than the window as having curtains behind the bed may be a tad difficult to manage? However, if you are in love with the idea of wallpaper, you could always paper three walls first, and based on how you think it looks, either leave it at that or continue with the forth wall.

It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!

Hi Diana, Whenever I specify Roman Blinds I recess them into the window and put dress curtains on each side (not functioning, purely for show and to soften the look) The issue I have is that the failure rate on Romans is very high, the pull string mechanism is very delicate and can jam up after regular use. Given the choice I would not specify them. My preferred solution is to inset plantation shutters into each window and then dress the outside with a simple pair of dress curtains each side or a modern swag over the head. I have done this on traditional interiors and ultra modern and they always look good. I never have any ongoing issues and the light quality the blades give is wonderful. (I prefer a large blade and avoid the central pole in favour of a hidden mechanism.) Another interesting feature of plantation shutters is that in the evening you push the shutters up for privacy and this deflects the heat back into the room, it saves a lot of money !! My friend has rich cream coloured blinds and they just have a grubby “smokers” look about them (God I hope she’s not on Houzz!). There are many different whites and some are textured so you can see the grain through without being dinghy.
