structural engineer - from the builder or architect side?

Hello, we have just submitted our plan for a 4m side return extension and some internal re-configuration. What would your recommendation be for a structural engineer - we can either go with our design and build team that have done our plans (they offer end to end service) or should a builder be doing this? What are the pros and cons for going with one over the other? Thanks in advance.
