Get The Look! Hollywood Regency Style. And The Oscar Goes To........
Comments (0)The lights have faded and the camera crews have moved on. The paparazzi are gleefully counting the proceeds from their photographs, the fabulous dresses and jewels have been returned to the fashion houses, and tearful speeches resigned to the history books. We have said farewell to Hollywood and 'Oscar' for another year. But fear not! If you require your fix of movie star glamour and luxury on a daily basis, why not embrace The Hollywood Regency style for your interior design? Dating back to the 1930’s when Hollywood was in its “Golden Age, this style is inspired by uber glamorous movie sets, and the equally glamorous movie stars of the time. Hollywood Regency style furniture can include modern and classic styles, with rich textures, contrasting colours, and luscious curves. Mixing bold statement pieces with delicate accents, balancing lavish fabrics and finishes with architectural elements. Don't be put off by this seemingly complicated style. It's perfect to match classic and modern designs. When picking fabrics, think like a movie star. Think haute couture gowns, silks, satins, velvets, suede, chenille. These gorgeous textiles have sumptuous tactile finishes and will add depth in a way that even the most beautiful cotton and linens can’t. A chaise longue...and in turquoise, very Hollywood! No Hollywood Regency design is complete with the ever popular turquoise blue accent. https://www.juliettesinteriors.co.uk/product/luxury-italian-red-velvet-storage-ottoman/ Think textures, one of the most important elements of Hollywood Regency style, with pops of bold colour and pattern, along with curved lines, sumptuous fabrics and metallic or glass finishes. You can even introduce Art Deco or neoclassical elements, classic designs that blend well with modern furniture. https://www.juliettesinteriors.co.uk/product/black-and-gold-neoclassical-bench/ Gold is a classic colour and finish to introduce a luxurious statement, but don't overdo it. Shown here would be key pieces, strong patterns and rich colours are important, but it’s best when used sparingly. Remember to keep your decor in the same palette and try to stick to one or two patterns only. Keeping accessories minimal and cohesive. All in all, this fabulous interior design style offers superb elegance, with sumptuous furnishings and good use of colour, we think this is a design choice not resigned to the history books, and deserves an Oscar all of its own!...See MoreHelp with Bedroom Design
Comments (17)Hi! just getting back to this after the Christmas break! thanks for all the replies! I am very happy with how it’s turning out. painting the radiator the wall colour seems fairly popular lately. I’ve painted all mine white but could go back and repaint them. I think I’ve got some of the wall paint left. :) I took some of the advice and hung a large piece of art over the bed with a white frame. I’ve moved the plant to the other side of the drawers. It does look better there! I’ve added a new plant which wasn’t as tall as the old one so I put it on the old bedside table. I think it works well. went with your suggestion of the wicker baskets. :) I Just need to fill the opposite wall now. I like the suggestion of a gallery wall but I don’t want to over do it With too much art. Maybe black and white photography could be nice? That gold eagle is very cool! hanging some photos on the mirror is a great idea thanks! I will have to try find some nice hanging plant pots too. Then I think I just need some cushions on the bench? And maybe a few more things on the bedside table and I’m done! Possibly some new blinds or curtains but that can wait! Phew!...See MoreCurtain colour for living room
Comments (11)Hi Cookie S, You have an excellent eye. The room looks super. John Lewis do a really lovely Berber fabric that would give a bit of textrure and warmth but is still plain. They do the fabric in a warm grey/brown and also a steelier grey depending on your wall colour. I can't see it on their website but I know they stock this in their stores. They will do ready made black out too. Your poles and curtain tops are just as important. Looking at the photo I think a dark bronze (not bright brass) metal pole would compliment the scheme that you have going on with the period legs on the chairs and would help tie everything together. A simple curtain top like a pinch pleat would also compliment your elegant design and not be too fussy and compete with the geometric rug & cushions. Comments (3)Hello Karina, I see what you mean. It depends on the feel you want for your bedroom. Do you want a pop of colour ? By the picture in the room it looks like you do not mind this. If yes you can cover them with wallpaper. Get an Acrylic/ perspex mirror. Or attach coloured perspex. Or just completely change the doors to a colour. Using colours from your picture, headboard or ottoman. Pastel colours for calm, brights for a wow or for exotic look golds, metallics, which will go with your other picture. If you have space move the ottoman to the foot of the bed and then make that recess area into a snug seating area with a comfy chair small table to put a drink on and a plant which will change the look and could guide you more. Mmm! The more I look at it could be that area just needs to be covered so that same doors that will give it an more complete cohesive look. Then paint it a gloss, rather than a matt. Laminate painting can be a mare so you could check out your local garage that spray paints cars and they could spray paint the doors evenly. Or buy a spray gun and do it yourself. Then it would like a more of a built in. I think more personal objects will guide you too. If we can see the other blue gold picture it will give us more of an Idea to work on. Blue gold yellow and teal sound exotic, so a feature wall in those exotic colours will take your eye away from the built ins. Or maybe then put the same wall paper with the comfy chair in the recess.... Have fun....See Moreresenda
