How would u dress this sliding glass door?

I would appreciate hearing from the houzz community on this last section of the room that needs dressing....the room is fairly square but does not have symmetrically placed windows. The fireplace is not centered and so the window to the right of it is very oddly proportioned. We anticipate only dressing the patio door as its by far the larger of the two and allows for little privacy given that our apartment faces another apartment across the courtyard from us. I lean toward up-cycled mid-century with a pronounced appreciation for the New York classic apartment-home aesthetic. I really dig silk taffeta too! Thanks for your help!

Comments (3)A sliding door always leaves a gap which wont cut out noise. How about a bi fold door which gives a snug fit. You can then select triple glazed panels to further keep the noise down. New blinds sound absolutely brilliant so we're going to get in touch once the work starts and hopefully they can provide ours too. If you have any photos they would be most gratefully received, the mechanism you have to pull them all down sounds fab! I presume you've not had any problems and they're still going strong! At the risk of pushing my luck, do you have any idea of the cost of your lovely sliding doors, to have so much glass, compared to say bifold doors? We've decided we want large sliders to maximise the light, but I'm worried they will be loads more than bifolds which were in our original builder's quote, eek!! I believe one of my greatest challenges here is to maintain balance while adding elegance to this awkward design.
Is it recommended that I dress both windows or only the sliding glass door?

You want to get real wood because the faux wood is much heavier. You could also do 2 panels of blinds which would be more functional but I liked the look of one solid expanse.

10 years agoSo after some debate we have a selection for the shade to cover this sliding glass door. It's a raw silk in silver from the shade store. The idea is to combine shades and curtain panels so we're still on the lookout for a nice printed curtain weight fabric. I will post samples as we find them. I appreciate all of the feedback from the Houzz community. The color of the fabric is close to the wall color.

8 years agoLove the room! I would definitely recommend using a similar treatment on both the window and the sliding glass door. Have you thought about a horizontal woven wood shade/shades for privacy and then dressing the window with decorative drapery panels to pull in some the of the wonderful colors in the room?
