Hello Tina, A word on recommendations... I was recently recommended a builder for a personal project and he turned out to be the most unspeakable charlatan! I saw pics of his work which were rather standard looking but given he was recommended by someone I expected to know what good is, I hired him. Turned out I had to coach him on many aspects such as how to plane wood and how to tile etc to name only a few things. He told me with glee he had 15 years experience!! Needless to say experience doesn't necessarily mean expert and what someone else thinks is good may not match up to your standards.. I expect the best and if someone is working for my clients then I expect them to be better than perfect! : ) ) Things to look out for are getting the right paperwork, decent quotes and itemised billings, invoices etc.. Excuses and demands for more money are also a no no... If someone doesn't enthuse about their work that's also telling!! As P&P Maintenance say, a decent builder will provide aftercare and if you're not happy for any reason - He should and must come back and complete or rectify anything you don't like or aren't happy with. Going back to the charlatan, I had to redo or finish the work myself... He'll never set foot on another of my projects again for me or any of my clients! : ))

A friend of mine build something like this in a community garden. And while my friend is definitely a gardener, she is not so much a DIYer. So I think if you have a teenage son to bully around (or bribe with beers and pizza) it would be very much possible. What sizes are your frames? Are they all the same? Or all different? You will need some support structure for the roof of course, you can use those beams to attach the frames to, I think... edit: I obviously meant cola and softdrinks..., as responsible adults we wont propagate teenage drinking ;)

If you post the room plan and give a budget, there are loads of people on here including myself that will be willing to make suggestions with layouts. Concept planners are an excellent resource and work remotely, they will be able to tell you how to make the most of the space and what can fit where, as they have immense technical knowledge with regards to kitchens for instance and will work with you to help you get the most out of it. They also are infinitely cheaper than an Architect and worth their weight in gold on the smaller build. ( of course, they do large ones to...........).
