POLL: Should 'Shabby Chic' be recycled or binned?
Comments (9)I agree with the previous sentiments. Shabby chic shouldn't be 'binned' outright but seen as an option or opportunity. I can't tear myself away from the idea that interiors work best when they are an equal reflection of the owners personality, the property and the heritage of the surrounding environment (there is definitely a Venn diagram in there!). For example I'm not keen on a room of distressed dressers in a 1970s town house. Throw a one off chic piece into a country cottage (twee lace, wicker hearts and all) and it can really work - especially when served up with a cup of earl grey in a traditional floral tea cup. Lol Most trends appear to peak and trough and a good designer puts a twist on it (for example the comments around softening industrial looks) and I for one look forward to its next incarnation....See MoreBedside table - Shabby Chic?
Comments (8)Hi. Do you have a picture of the room? I like your idea to bring in something contemporary and the bed in the picture is very similar to yours. I do think the table would sit better ideally on a hardwood floor or maybe a patterned rug, or even quite a flat weave carpet though. I'd go for a French antique chest of drawers either in a neutral painted finish or the oak. I also quite like the idea of adding a ghost chair but with a throw or cushion so it doesn't look too samey. I quite like this mirror too:)...See MoreShabby to Chic staircase renovation

Comments (18)Hi Laura, if you really wanted to go 'all in' with the black decor, you could consider black flooring too. Now that, would be dramatic! Real wood or laminate is great for a bedroom. Here's some ideas: Goodrich Milton - a parquet floor that can be laid in a variety of patterns. https://woodpeckerflooring.co.uk/product/goodrich-milton-planks/ Wembury Urban Oak - laminate flooring. https://woodpeckerflooring.co.uk/product/wembury-urban-oak/ And here's some inspo: Credit: http://blog.abigailahern.com/house-crush/hang-out-at-janes/...See MoreMichael Nicholas Design
