A fantastic project for a delightful couple in Bradford on Avon near Bath completed in 2015. A very modest sized back garden (8m x 5m) was transformed into an intriguing and contemporary space by using carefully planned geometry and a neutral palette. A large, bold, bespoke designed aluminum pergola is the focal point of the garden and creates a sense of enclosure whilst its size actually makes the space feel larger. The clean edges and lines of the decking, timber cladding, beautiful natural stone paving and walling lead the eye to the seating area at the end of garden and contrast effectively with the soft romantic herbaceous planting. A custom made water cascade is featured in the wall by the seating area, behind which is a small practical space with a built in shed for storage and water butt for rainwater harvesting. Quirky and stylish furniture, lighting and pots were all chosen to create further impact.
