A large country kitchen in a new house set in an open landscape near a yew forest. The large curved island accommodated multiple uses. A small cupboard placed on the surface hides small appliances. The layout of the furniture is sympathetically arranged to make the island work, their soft shapes reflect its curves. The gantry helps locate the island and echoes its footprint, acts as a lighting gantry, extraction system and a place to put utensils ready for use whilst prepping at the chopping block.
