‘Disclose’ shelving unit functions as both lighting and a shelving unit. The units were designed, fabricated and detailed in-house. They were then moved to site for pre-assembly. By taking on the role of designer and fabricator we had to work with the tools we had at hand. The challenge of working in this manner presented an exciting opportunity to experiment with different formations. It allowed us to have full control over the final aesthetic effect as well as assembly of the units. The combined lighting system enhances the aesthetic appearance of the shelves.

Each shelf has been laser-cut out of transparent Perspex. The support pins for each shelf were looked at as an integrated part of the design. It is simple in terms of the fabrication process and yet complex in terms of design and composition. Each layer is shaped differently creating diverse ranges of pockets.
