Contemporary kitchens are often thought of as minimalist but they don't need to be. The D² display in the Davonport Colchester showroom features oak doors and a textured composite worktop, introducing a range of materials and textures into a modern design.

The full D² kitchen display is handleless to maintain a sleek, streamlined aesthetic. To give the design personality and some additional visual impact 2 distinct worktops are used on the island and backsplash.

The bank of appliances at the far end of the island are top-spec Miele touch appliances. Their graphite grey finish complements the tones on the island beautifully, whilst the ergonomics of the room are enhanced by their eye-level positioning.

The room is flooded with natural light which helps to balance the richness of the oak doors and dark tones on the island.

Illuminated recessed handle detailing draws the eye to the handleless aspect of the cabinetry as well as the modern slim profile on the worktops.

It is becoming increasingly common to favour deep drawer storage over a more traditional cupboard. This D² kitchen balances both types of storage by incorporating wall cupboards above the dual height deep drawer storage which runs the full length of the main wall.
