Tillingham | Rural Farmhouse Kitchen

The brief for this project was to create a warm and welcoming kitchen for this country farmhouse. Our classic Tillingham collection was ideal for such a project; handpainted in a palette of soft cream and green with an accent red pantry.

The original beams in the dining part of the room and the coppers and greys in the floor tiles lent themselves towards the use of soft green and cream on the kitchen cabinetry.

In order to break up the creams and whites used around the AGA, the mantel was painted in the same subtle green as is used on the island. This creates an interesting focal point in the room as well as fully embracing green into the colour scheme.

The ultimate country kitchen appliance - an AGA. In-keeping with the client's hopes to create a welcoming space, the AGA emits a subtle warmth that is particularly inviting on a cold winter's day.

The positioning of the sink is well thought out with a clear working triangle between food prep space on the island, rinsing and washing at the sink and cooking on the AGA.

The striking red pantry lifts the design, incorporating a welcome pop of colour to the otherwise subtle scheme. This red accent flows throughout the entire ground floor; a feature our client was keen to maintain in the kitchen.

From this angle the open plan aspect of the room can be fully appreciated. The kitchen flows onto a dining area and conservatory. To assist continuity of the design the fabric used on the dining chairs is also used on the blinds in the kitchen and conservatory.

Beyond the kitchen is an informal dining space. The cabinetry and shelving which lines the walls in this area was designed to echo the cabinetry and colour scheme in the kitchen.

As with all Davonport furniture, this dovetailed oak drawer was handmade to order in our Essex workshops. The Davonport seal seen on the side of the drawer is applied after all quality checks have been made.

Our client has an interest in ceramics and was keen to fill her kitchen with beautiful ornaments and pieces of crockery. These open shelves provide the perfect space to subtly display some of her favourite items.
