The refurbishment of an old fisherman’s cottage on Whitstable Beach.

Formerly a fisherman’s cottage and now a holiday home, the existing spaces feel small and back to front entering the house through the kitchen to the rear. The design is an eclectic refurbishment, and alternate take on seaside living that involves opening up and re-orientating the ground floor to provide a single open plan living, dining and kitchen space.

The kitchen is relocated and a new downstairs shower room and utility added, the entry area is reconfigured and given it’s own identity in order to create a proper sense of arrival. A new stair opens up the main living space and feature joinery provides a continuous element running through and connecting the separate spaces.
