Mid Century Townhouse, Bedroom & Bath

This project took its main inspiration from the client's time spent in Japan and the vintage fabrics that she had collected there. We selected the best of her fabrics and devised schemes which worked with them for each room, building up a visual dialogue between the colours and patterns in the fabrics and the details and feel of the Mid-century architecture of the building. The fabrics were made into cushions and wall hangings and we used Japanese hand printed Chiyogami paper to wallpaper some of the rooms.

The client did not want the house to be bland and boring but full of colour, texture and pattern, mixing old and new to create a bold and eclectic style which suited her taste and personality. There was a large bespoke element to the project on items such as rugs and tiles, to ensure that all the colouring, scales and patterns flowed well throughout the project. We are sourced art, accessories and furnishings from many suppliers including antiques dealers from around the world to give the varied and rich feel to the project.

As well as being aesthetically beautiful, the house needed to work well for the client in terms of providing the maximum amount of storage possible. The house was tall but narrow so bespoke joinery design throughout the house ensured that her brief was fulfilled. We also made the most of the outside space with a first floor terrace and a roof garden accessed by stairs to a skylight.
