Period Apartment Update
This basement flat was purchased by our Australian clients as a pied a terre for their regular visits to London. It was previously a rental property, very dated and dark and they wanted it to feel light and bright furnished with a mixture of antique and classic contemporary furnishings mixed with more contemporary colours and patterns.
In order to maximise and enhance the light in the flat, we decorated it in a fresh palette of white and taupe, fitted new spot lights and intalled joinery lighting into the bespoke bookcases and wardrobes. We also brought in glass and mirror in the furnishings to enhance the feeling of light and space.
We sourced antiques locally in Chelsea and Kensington and reinstated period features such as the cornice and fireplace to give the apartment a lovely traditional feel and then gave it a modern twist with the use of bright fabrics and geometric patterns, seen particularly the Morroccan rug.
The clients love staying here now as it is welcoming, comfortable and stylish.
