RHS Chelsea 2015 - Breakthrough Breast Cancer - People's Choice and Silver Gilt

This was the first Chelsea garden for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Inspiration came from the genetic research and breakthroughs into breast cancer funded by the charity.

The design was based on a double (DNA) helix shape: a stone pathway crossed by a ribbon of soft pink planting. Water pools in the garden rippled every 10 minutes to represent a woman just diagnosed with breast cancer.

White stemmed trees and a green / white planting scheme create an ethereal feel. The sculpture (by Rick Kirby) symbolised the courage, dignity and humanity of all those fighting breast cancer.
