This projected involves an extreme restoration of a very old building that has played a part in its community for over a hundred years. The old Public House was in total disrepair and had been shut down some years ago. Plans were afoot to knock it down and turn the plot into a new residential development, until our client decided to buy it and preserve its historical purpose in the community. The planning process itself has been time consuming and demanding; without the usual chronological order of process, but with the support of the village and some stalwart local councilors, the slow planning machinery has resulted in verbal approval for this as a commercial project.
The building was taken back to 3 walls and a roof, and the rebuild has begun. New stone lintels were used to retain the original character. Auxiliary buildings were demolished and a new 300 square metre function room with 10 en-suite guest rooms has been added, in a style sympathetic to the original pub.
