Which are the Most-saved Bedrooms on Houzz?
From a luxe space and a room with a view, to a cosy, compact scheme, here are your most-saved bedrooms from the past year
Houzzers, you clearly know what makes a dreamy sanctuary when you see it. The Best of Houzz 2016 Awards were recently announced, so we took a look at the serene, plush bedrooms that made it onto your favourites. Here’s a selection of the most popular in no particular order. Did one of these amazing spaces make it into your ideabook?
Soothing grey gets our vote
Farrow & Ball’s Downpipe paint gets a lot of love and for good reason. This bedroom, saved by tens of thousands of you, shows how to use the shade in a way that allows for an airy and bright set-up.
Colourful, patterned cushions lift the look, while painting the ceiling and mouldings white stops the space feeling dark and dingy. A similarly crisp set of plantation shutters lets the light in – and what a way to catch every ray with that beautiful Caboche light fitting.
The luxurious wingback velvet headboard was very popular, too – a wonderful way to sit back on a Sunday with the papers in bed.

Chic furnishings excite us
Another twist on a grey scheme was this elegant room in a country manor house, which had you clamouring for details on its curtains, paint colours, furniture and headboard. They are mostly bespoke items and finishes, which demonstrates how well a room can come together when the client and interior designer have a shared vision of what makes a gorgeous bedroom: this!
The buttoned upholstery of the armchair and ottoman add a very inviting feel to this stylish hideaway.

It’s all about accent colour
Neutral bedrooms were the clear favourites last year, but this image’s popularity shows how much one accent colour in contrasting patterns can transform a space from looking a little flat to having real appeal.
This bedroom is in a loft conversion, so it also demonstrates clever ways to work with the space, including smart built-in wardrobes and cupboards, modern bedside wall lamps and perfectly positioned skylights.

Small is perfect for us
This wood-panelled twin room inspired so many of your guest room plans – or maybe you just tucked it away for the day you finally have a seaside retreat to do up!
What this cabin lacks in space, it makes up for in stacks of style, rustic charm and simple pleasures. The amount of wood in use here is cleverly disguised with white paint and a beautifully treated pale-wood floor.
The upcycled headboards add another layer of texture and, teamed with a hint of faded, vintage florals and enamel-look bedside lighting, it creates a sanctuary and a half that evokes a simpler time.

We love a room with a view
Sometimes, it isn’t about the furnishings at all (though this solid maple bed frame is absolutely in touch with its surroundings).
What an incredible scene to wake up to in the morning and to enjoy at night, come storms or serene sunsets. If we manage to have our own builds one day, floor-to-ceiling windows will be making a grand appearance, that’s for sure.

Stylish stacking draws us in
These custom-made, L-shaped bunks are a brilliant addition to a guest or kids’ room, and this set-up easily sleeps four. If you rent your space out or have regular guests, it’s a great option – and many of you agree. Keep the décor understated and clean to appeal to multiple visitors.

Punchy palettes get our attention
Who could fail to take a second look at this knockout room? While the ornate furniture and fittings are kept fairly simple in white (if simple is the right term for a crystal chandelier, candle wall sconces, bird lamp bases and a decorative bed frame), the walls are left free to zing.
This treatment for a teenage girl’s room may not be to everyone’s taste, but it certainly inspired many of you to experiment with bold colour.

Storage takes the lead
If you’re starting out with an awkwardly shaped loft room, it’s inspiring to see such a challenge being used as an opportunity to create something as unusual as this.
Creating a mezzanine platform on top of deep storage units makes for a novel bedroom that steals the show, and this one leapt into lots of your ideabooks.

No one can deny the cosy appeal of a freshly made bed stacked with comfy cushions, a chunky cable-knit throw and a tufted headboard.
Judging by your comments, the attraction of this room lies in its rich mixture of textures within a soothing neutral palette. Add in the fact that all this cosiness sits under a striking beamed, pitched roof with an en-suite bathroom and it’s no surprise this comfortable, calming space came in as one of your favourites last year.
