A very steep site, sitting on a hillside, and originally only having pedestrian access from the road below, we worked closely with a structural engineer to ensure that the site design took into account the retention of the land behind.
The replacement dwelling is a timber framed building finished with horizontal cladding with varying height gable ends and balconies. A large terrace accessed from the open plan living space on the ground floor was constructed over the double garage below with an electrically operated vehicle turn table. With views over the river, glazing was maximised without detracting from the sensitive design to blend in well with the surrounding area.
A detailed landscaping scheme was prepared by our landscape architects, including retained stone lawned paved terraces providing seating and recreational areas with views of the river.
