He was clear throughout about the advantages and disadvantages of each design (best use of space, costs, etc.), which was really helpful in making our decision of which one to go ahead with. “Hill House is a 16th century former farm house, the main part of which had been converted into modern living accommodation some time ago but which had an adjoining single storey outbuilding/small barn, used for storage, with the western aspect facing onto the Lyth Valley. The brief to Tim Chetham was to develop plans which would see the conversion of this outbuilding into a 2-storey development consisting of a living room and en-suite bedroom, ensuring that the new blended seamlessly with the old, and importantly, maximising the views onto the spectacular Lyth Valley. In scoping the project, Tim engaged well with us and gained a thorough understanding of our requirements. He translated our ideas, some of which were modified by his suggestions, into drawings which, when the final build was completed, exceeded our expectations by, internally, opening up the flow through the ground floor rooms, and upstairs an en-suite bedroom making effective use of the space and, importantly for us, maximising the views from both rooms. Tim met all agreed tasks on schedule and was within his quotation. We would certainly use his services again if required and would have no hesitation in recommending him to others - which we have already done!”

“Rob was an essential service provider for my major house renovation in 2013. He worked with me to turn my ideas into drawings, and it was extremely useful to have his experience and good counsel on the design. He is excellent at visualisation: he really made me think hard about the order and flow of the rooms, the options for resolving difficult access issues, how much I would use the rooms which affected how much space I should allocate to them, the aspect and the fall of the light, which affected the choice and position of windows and doors. Rob's advice meant that my ideas were all kept, but in an intelligent way that avoided a lot of pitfalls. Rob then guided the plans through the local authority planning process, and I also hired him to draw up all the building regs for the builder to follow. My project ran much more smoothly with his expert advice and I felt far more in control and confident of the result.”
