“I was probably amongst the few remaining homeowners in the City of Bath who had not yet used Oliver Hazael Bespoke Carpentry and Plastering for works in my family home! The upside of that is we were able to see a number of examples of Oliver Hazael's work and choose the style we preferred. We also knew a number of referees. Oliver himself attended site on a Saturday to take measurements, draw some design sketches, and leave us with a quote to consider. Once we agreed a date, Oliver and his colleague arrived bright and early to set up. I’ve never seen contractors of any description set up such a comprehensive and immaculately maintained tool chain! Bear in mind it is necessary to vacate a suitably sized room to accommodate this setup, but it pays dividends in the end in terms of the quality of manufacture and fitting of units. Matthew was on site for two weeks during which he produced and fitted two substantial built-in wardrobe units, one for a bedroom cum office, and one for our kitchen. He was a delight to have on site, and we told him so. He was personable, immaculately turned out, obsessed with perfection, and tireless. He left each evening with no trace of his industry other than the temporary workshop where every tool was returned to its own box, and neatly placed under the workbench out of reach of children and pets. Again, we have never experienced professionalism of this standard. Needless to say, my wife and I are delighted with the bespoke units which we are now painstakingly finishing in white! The simple Shaker style doors, made to size, and the internal shelving are all cut and fitted to a high degree of precision. Even where Matthew had to accommodate a very wonky Victorian back-wall, the shelves are contoured to fit - not filled as one might expect from most "ordinary" carpenters. But, we're not surprised, Oliver Hazael Bespoke Carpentry and Plastering is no "ordinary" service. On cost, these sorts of bespoke fittings are not a small investment for most homeowners, but they most certainly add value to the property. Using best-quality materials and fittings, we expect ours to outlive us, and that makes for excellent value for money. We would recommend Oliver Hazael Bespoke Carpentry and Plastering unreservedly, but do your own research before choosing the right contractor for your needs.”

“Ben was fantastic from start to finish. We had a design in mind and he tweaked it to perfection. We're really happy with our bookshelf and cabinets. He built most of it off site and then came in and assembled with minimal mess and disturbance. We will definitely use Ben again.”

“Liam completed a full renovation of my restaurant, The Ethicurean, while we closed for two weeks for our winter break. Liam worked with us closely from day one, and had several visits to the site to meet with us before we started working on designs. Being in a 1901 grade II listed building creates many challenges, but all of these were immediately met with solutions. We felt in very good hands. Liam listened to our needs, and how we thought the new front of house space should function. It was a much larger space than we had devoted to front of house before, and we worked through workflow and service points together. He offered practical solutions to pinch points and things that didn’t quite work in our vision. Liam has known about our business for a long time, and knows the whole principles are about sourcing locally, and sustainably. With that in mind, once we had the designs mapped out, liam suggested materials and an overall aesthetic that was very in keeping with our core principles. He chose local Oak for our counter tops, and pine sourced nearby, which he burnt with a blowtorch to give it a beautiful finish. He inset brass into the countertop fronts, which pops against the black pine. All cabinets and countertops were built in Liam’s workshop, and he managed to install everything in the restaurant in good time, against a tight deadline before we reopened. All in all, we couldn’t recommend Liam enough. Very understanding, empathetic and an all round great guy. Very professional and an excellent carpenter. Wouldn’t use anyone else for future projects.”
