Symes Interiors

It's very rare that I take the time to write public reviews unless the work was exceptional, or in this case a deep disappointment - happy to make 1-1 referrals, which I have frequently. We contracted with Symes late last year and things started well; initial design and discovery was good - lots of communication and engagement. The work started well, and the quality was good - but in line with the price premium, they do not come cheap, which is correct, quality comes at a price. In March this year (2021) things fell apart quickly - work slowed to odd days here and there, there was mistakes and damage to the units installed, and then in April communication and any engagement slowed to nothing. Both my commercial contractor and I had to chase daily with no response, then out of the blue weeks later we are told by the owner he hadn't heard from me - I had sent emails, Whatsapp's, calls, and I certainly hadn't changed my number. At this point the owners team were onsite once in one month for a couple of days, and then disappeared again. We are now left with a project that is 50-60% finished, but payment has been made for more than 80% of the project, in advance. The owner is refusing to communicate at all, no calls, no messages, and not even communicating with my contractor. We are now left with the issue of trying to find another carpenter to finish the works but will need to pay out of pocket, and somehow take legal action with the Owner and Symes to recover the balance. I am not the first person to have this experience with Symes (a school in Ascot had the same issue), such a disappointment. I deeply regret trusting the Owner and his company, and would suggest you seriously consider not working with them.
