Splash back and wall color help!
Comments (26)Personally I wouldn't go with a yellow splash back. Not because it wouldn't go but more that you already have enough of that accent colour around the room, over do it and it can look forced. There is a fine line between getting the balance right were it looks classy and going over board to the point it looks naff. Personally I would either go for a splash back that is colour matched to the walls or a smoked mirror. You are limited in some ways because it appears there wasn't any forward planning with regards to splash backs. Any splash backs would need to be confined to the width of the extractor because your curved wall units won't open otherwise. They would have to be packed off the wall if you wanted to go full width splash back. I would recommend a durable matt paint in the kitchen. Good quality ones will withstand washing without polishing up and showing tell tell marks where they've been washed. Little Greenes Intelligent Matt is perfect for this and is our choice of paint when not using any further splash backs above the granite upstands. I understand a colour matched glass splash back or smoked mirror may seem like the safe option and boring to some, but there is no point in being brave just for the sake of it. You've got plenty of other points of interest in the room with regards to colour without having to push it too far. Let the kitchen itself be a subtle canvas to show off other items rather than fight with them for attention would be my advice....See MoreHello! Comments (7)I LOVE the sound of your kitchen! The Ikea Bodarp in the grey-green is such a glorious colour, and the contrast with the teracotta is just.... *chefs kiss*. You've done amazing work so far pulling everything together. I personally love those two contrasting colours together, with some further muted, more neutral tones in there to really make it pop and compliment the colours you've already chosen. Have you thought about doing a mood board? They're good fun and worth having a play at. Pull in the colours you've used so far and then have a dabble with the additional colours you're thinking of. Personally, I love that what you've done so far and think it has a huge amount of personality!...See MoreSplash back or no splash back??
Comments (9)Well I love the look you have right now. So personally would chose a natural stone or tile very similar to current wall colour. As your wood units are such a gorgeous rich tone I thibk adding anything mid to dark would detract from these. On another note can I ask about your crittall style internal doors please? Are these actually metal? Can I enquire about supplier you used/cost as it is the exact look I am planning for our house. Thanks....See MoreSplash back options
Comments (7)An upstand is the piece onto the wall and also sitting on your worktop. It’s around 4” high. Different people deal with it in different ways when adding something (splashback) to the wall. As Sarah L has said most don’t have the upstand when there is going to be some kind of splashback behind the hob so you may want to cut it out (if possible) and have the splashback direct on the worktop just behind the hob. Some keep both and add the splashback over the upstand which is what you may decide to do now it is already fitted....See MoreCier Broadhurst
