Hello everyone. We just bought a new house and this is the first time I'm supposed to furnish it from scratch (terrified of making wrong decisions) so plz help:
1- Living room: Off-white couches and 2 grey leather chairs. What colour of curtains and carpet? R curtains supposed to reach ceiling?
2- Bedroom: Looks bit dark at the moment so need to brighten it up a little with curtains, right? What colour?

Comments (10)Agreed about the floors, they look lovely. In that case I would definately go for a pale grey curtain, or the room will look very white and the grey couches will stand out in a bad way I think. Or if you want to add a colour to the room, say blue for example, a pale blue curtain and then a rug with bits of darker or lighter blue on it would tie in a colour subtly. If you want to stick with the grey and white colours, I would go for a greyish or cream (darker than floor) rug with a pattern on it to make a focal point in the room. Comments (15)I think what is blocking your ideas is the issue that any shelves built into these alcoves will be sat in the middle of a wall and usually this type of alcove would extend to the corner. Because of this issue I think that you should either:- Block up the alcoves and so you only have to find a fireplace that you like. Cover the alcoves with doors that looks like the wall and have invisible touch catches. Build in the alcoves but run skirting and coving in front of the space so that you can read the main room. Knock out the chimney brickwork so that your log burner is sat in the middle of a wider space. Comments (15)I would go very modern and clean, you don't have to spend a lot of money. Painting the walls white would be a cheap and easy way to brighten the space. The add personality with accessories, art work and bedlinen. Comments (2)We would recommend looking at some modular shelving systems or ours as it's made to measure and can work well in small spaces, but most of these combine shelves, desks and storage cabinets so you can just select what you need from the all the parts. 9 years agoHi. I wouldn't cover marble, just a rug between the sofas. Was it me confusing you with the grey as I can't see anyone mentioned a grey curtain? I think the curtain should be light but you could bring a bit of grey in (trim etc) as per pic from Indulgy (this is a little formal but I can't find a great pic!). However if you bring grey in, in the form of cushions or rug, you don't need it on the curtains. If you want something modern and clean you could consider other window treatments. Is there a privacy issue?
