how can I get my pleated curtains to hang properly on track using hooks and loose linings please

What's the problem? They should be fine. It is possible they are gaping because you haven't tightened the header tape enough or you have insufficient curtain hooks.

they aren't folding properly, they just look as if I've thrown them together, It's driving me mad and they are very awkward to put up as they rail is attached to a pelmet....cheers

I agree with minnie about the curtain fabric. Very elegant. Not so keen on the wallpaper. Two points: I think the valance boxes for the curtains are too heavy and bring down the room. What is it like underneath? Could you remove them to lighten the look (or shorten the box)? Second, have you considered having a different wallpaper? Certainly I don't recommend painting over wallpaper - so far, it never works and you see the seams if not immediately, over time.

Hi, If you are looking to modernise the look, personally I think light, bright and fresh colours work best along with highlighting the features that are already there. Remove the curtains to open up the room and maximise the light. The door and windows are quite dark, could you paint them? Using white curtain poles is an option? If you mount the poles are high up as you can and as wide as you can it will make the windows seem larger and will stop light being cut out by curtain overlap. You could treat the window and door as one treatment with full length curtains covering both, almost covering the whole wall.

I would also go for white bedding but with a bold pattern. For curtains I'd also go for linen, maybe something like the bed head to break up the walls a bit.. I liked this bedside cabinet from John Lewis (2nd pic) but it seemed to clash with the headboard but maybe you can find similar or cheaper ones like I've shown that you can paint in the same navy. I thought a pendant swagged over the bed could look nice? Perhaps add a brass mirror/s between the door and radiator?

Presumably they are up now. Since the rail is all part of a pelmet I assume you have put the curtain hooks at the top of the tape and not in the middle as you would on a curtain pole.

Try getting them to hang in a more regimented way by folding them.
Working along the bottom fold the curtains back and forth so they concertina. Make sure you pull the linings into the same position. Once finished secure the bottoms by tying them in that position, tidy the middles so they are following the same creases as the bottom. I think you will find if you leave them for a couple of days they will fall naturally into the folds you made.

they'd aren't folding uniform from the top I get only 2 proper folds, then rest of the folds hang as if they aren't level and fall. I have spaced the hooks equally....the linings are separate and hooked onto the curtains, I've got such a beautiful big room with 3 big sash windows I the room, my curtains are at least 10" drop....
