I'm buying this apartment, what layout would you have with TV and sofa

Initially was thinking of a big TV on the back wall and an L sofa....but was then considering turning it round to have the L against the back all, and a TV low down under the roof walls... Maybe? Any thoughts?

We like the idea of an L-shaped sofa, but it will force you to walk where the roof is low. Maybe 2 two seaters angled towards the end wall with a gap in the middle so you are walking where the head height is higher, or maybe it's not a problem if you aren't as tall as us! You could consider chairs...a love seat?

I install home automation equipment and lighting controls. I don't have a TV in the house : ) I do though, have a projector with a retractable screen. This has totally changed the way we watch TV. We only watch what we want to - which is mainly programs recorded via Youview or films. When the projector isn't on, the screen is out of sight in the ceiling and the room is setup for more social activities. Personally, I couldn't be without the radio. We have speakers in every room for this and music in general. Upstairs this is done with inceiling speakers so again, it is a discrete system.

Do you have a coffee table in front of the TV?

In the middle of a long drawn out revamp, coffee table relegated to the tip, it absence planned to last unsuitable within the new decor. But I missed it.!!!! And needs must. I discovered that using our old, 'long tall Sally' wooden stool was actually great for my coffee cup and nibbles. Matter of fact it looks rather cool. So I'm on the look out for a twin for my next project. Just need to decide what colour to paint them.

I started off playing with the plan as was with the kitchen top left............. Bench seating to the bottom,and the lounge area to the right at the bottom. I tried it with a kitchen island and it just doesn't work, takes up to much room, cuts down on available units and you can't get a big enough island in to look right. However, as Jonathan says above, if you go outside the box, and move the kitchen, you get much better placement of furniture, more room, and can fit more in without it looking crowded. You can even go one step further with this plan, and that is to put up a stud wall and section the whole kitchen off with doors in the middle, thus creating two separate rooms, much nicer. This layout would most likely add value to your property as you now have a separate kitchen.

Hi Lola, thanks for adding this comment. I'm highly inclined to agree with you but the thing that's annoying me is that right side wall with the clock on it. That's a solid brick wall. I love the idea of having that new fake wall built with sunk in niches/compartments on the left, top, bottom and TV in the middle. But the right side is going to look strange as there no symmetry with the left side AND I can't cut into the right side brick wall ....or....can I? I want the whole wall to be flush with niches but want that symmetry with top, bottom , right and left. Any ideas how I can achieve that? As I think out loud, I could ignore niches on the left as I can't do anything on the right and simply put niches on over and below the TV. This way you have symmetry on all 4 sides. So in summary: Above TV sunk in niched compartments Below TV sunk in niched compartments Left side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? Right side of TV blank OR pictures hung on them? TV sunk in the middle. I'm not sure I like the blanked sides or hung pictures. With pictures you would have items protuding on the right/left sides whereas all other sides including the TV will be sunk in. Confusing on the eye? Any other ideas on how I might be able to combat this?
