Is this the best way to design my relaxing themed bedroom???

look at the picture ive attached and thats how im planning on setting out my bedroom. If you have any improvements, i will be more then happy to hear them and any advise would be thankfully taken.

One way of making more of your space is to perhaps consider a bench or seat at the end of your bed.. It could be a small sofa or ottoman style arrangement.. It could even situate a useful linen storage inside..

The other idea I thought you might benefit from would be in the desk area.. Have a look at a bureau style desk that can be closed when not in use, thus presenting a serene area that doesn't say "office".. Consider a chair that looks functional but not office like.. In this way you can section areas of your bedroom for work etc but it does not have to look out of place whilst doing so..

If you prefer something more like a desk, why not look at leaning furniture...

You could actually paint this to suit the room... So it doesn't have to be plain wood and white, it could be anything you liked... Even blending into the wall if it was painted the same as...with the equivalent eggshell. Keeping things minimal and neat will aid to the aesthetic of the room and so you can "switch off" more easily when you want.

Find something nice to hang above the bed... perhaps a decorative mirror or convex style sunburst..

For dressing the bed.. I came across these.. Rather lovely and you can compliment them with a lovely white bedspread and a large pair of linen cushions.. : ))

(It's meant to be the baby blue or "Mint" version I clicked on and saved link.. but for some reason it reverts to the brown! :( )

Do you already have the sofa? If not don't buy one as I am not sure the room is big enough.
I would put the drawers where your desk is and the bed opposite the window and try to hide your desk in the space where your bed is shown. Perhaps some sort of screen to hide work distractions would be more valuable.
You probably have got room for a chair.
Also - where are your wardrobes?

Hello Pippa, Yes Minnie's right.. Calming colours that naturally compliment like several shades of 1 colour...So you may like a particular shade like pink for example and see colour variations below.. From Little Greene in this case... So a varying degree of colour that compliments and accents for the walls and wood work.. Chalky and matt are best... Then you can add complimentary and contrasting tones for bedding soft furnishings like pale greys or silvers with white linens.. or stone colours and woods.. Keep flooring light and paint the ceiling a lovely warm colour like Whitening by LG again.. If you're laying flooring with rugs, keep to a similar colour, that way the floor looks expansive rather than defined.. Mood lighting with table lamps or wall lighting.. with soft warm white bulbs gives a calm and warm light as opposed to bright white and from a central single pendant.. : ) )

Hello Pippa, Is there a natural divide between rooms.. for example a step or something that says 2 sections.. Or is it just a really big room that you want to divide up.. One way of creating a divide is having interesting shelving that can double as a screen.. So sitting area behind and bedroom in front.. The shelving can also act as storage and an interesting artistic piece.. Could even be an interesting wall or backdrop for a lovely headboard and bed.. : ))

Hi Ryan. The structure is ok as long as you can control it :)...as I remember you have mentioned that this is not going to be the main bedroom and will have a sofa not a proper bed so I think the feature wall will work here. I wouldn't paint all walls grey because I think it will make your space smaller and darker. However all depends how you will decorate it afterwards. I would recommend to first make 3d rendering of your room and play with colours and furniture. It would save a lots of time.

@Erwin, yes I do need for the freeholder to approve, I will ask him as soon as I find out what can and cannot be done. Also, we did find out that what's between the kitchen and the bathroom is indeed an unused chimney that currently hosts our boiler... Not sure if it's worth moving the boiler outside and demolish the chimney @LoftCraft London, yes it is a 1930s purpose built maisonette, I'm impressed by your keen eye! Do you have any experience with this kind of layouts? Like examples of what people have done to reconfigure such an unusual floor plan? I haven't been able to find any examples for inspiration
