Layout dilemma !! Help me please !
Comments (15)If you hit the pro button under One Plans comment you can contact One Plan directly for professional advice. If you read One Plans reviews and various plugs from Houzzers it may well be worth it. Given this was 2 houses it may also help to have some professional help to see if anything could be done to improve the flow and general layout of the house rather than just furnish the rooms. Alternatively if you want an attempt at some amateur help (mrsmcee, am speaking about myself not you!) , I think you will need to draw a plan with exact measurements, ŵall alcoves?, windows, doors, fireplace, room openings, light fittings etc otherwise it's really quite difficult. I attempted to draw a plan for your living room last night but was just guessing at the rooms dimensions being 23ft x37ft but it didn't look that wide in the pic. I also noticed you've had a light installed over the dining table so I assume the table has to go here, and the same for your seating arrangement? The foyer should be quite easy but need pics of where the fireplace is (although could probably guess on that looking at the plan!). Photos of each room from different angles would also really help. What by the way is room E on the plan? I hope that helps!...See MorePlease help me with colour scheme for my house
Comments (20)I was a die hard F&B fan - painted numerous houses solely in F&B for the finish etc. HOWEVER due to budget constraints, a current offer at Homebase on Dulux paint (inc. mix) , and the fact i'm painting an entire 3 storey house i experimented with colour matching F&B colours - specifically Cornforth White, Purebeck Stone, Ammonite and Pink Ground. Opting for the Endurance Matt and Flat Matt finishes by Dulux i was pleasantly surprised by the results. The colour match was pretty much spot on - i would caveat that the Dulux colour match won't produce matching finishes for all colours. For example Dulux couldn't match a flat eggshell in the Cornforth White so we bought Estate Eggshell from F&B and it goes perfectly well with the walls in the matched Dulux Endurance Matt. In the master bedroom we choose to use F&B Cornforth White and Pink Ground and estate emulsion and I felt it was a thinner paint than the Dulux! The added benefit of the Dulux colour match is that they can provide a number of different more durable finishes. Comments (15)I recently carpeted my toddlers room and originally I wanted hard flooring but I must say I'm glad I didn't. I think carpet would be much more comfortable for your little boy to be playing on for years to come. Don't spend too much ;) I was wiping sick off mine the other week and if it was a very expensive carpet I would have been nervous as hell. Luckily it all came out fine! I know both carpet and wood have pros and cons so I guess you need to weigh it up whilst making sure you put comfort and practicality over how it looks (boring I know...) you would need a lovely thick rug over your wood floor which would be a nice touch to the nursery......See MoreNeed help with my floorboards please
Comments (6)Yes I was thinking to have it stripped but under the black paint there is plain very light sort wood strips my husband bought himself and carved it oh. it hasn't got that antique look. But I agree with you, if the beams were original wood and darker I would definitely do that. Often I was wondering if I had the wood stained oak would it work?I don't want a fake stuck on effect.Someone wrote in a post on an other website that they painted their beams brown and they looked like chocolate logs. Wish I knew how to make the beams look aged and weathered.May I ask what flooring have you got with.the beams?original floorboards?I was thinking to have rustic stone laid down in the living room but the house is already cold and there isn't lots of draught....See MoreCallie Peet Interior Design
