What's your favourite washing scent?

One of my friends came round the other day whilst I had all my washing out to dry and remarked how much they loved the scent of it (it was lotus flower & lily for anyone wondering).

Anything fresh and relatively neutral works for me, but what's your favourite scent? Leave us a comment below!

Can't beat the smell of fresh air for me - no artificial "pongs"

I loved all the suggestions but can I be party pooper and say no to the BBQ. The smell of burning fat is quite anti social. The neighbours are enjoying their glass of subtle rose, while peeling plump prawns and the smell comes over the boundary, ugh! Cook in and take outside. BBQ belongs where everybody is doing the same thing or miles away from anybody. How do vegetarians cope with the meat aromas? I know I am not alone in this really, but difficult to say out loud given the onslaught of BBQ info. Bon appetite.

Having read more comments on this subject, I'd like to say again that we do offer both scented and unscented candles as it is definitely a personal choice. Our customers say our fragrances are lovely and subtle and because we use a rapeseed wax on our smaller candles, this has a lovely gentle smell of its own. No idea what it's called, but yellow Lenor. Or other brands in yellow. Summer breeze maybe? I also love the smell of Bounce tumble drying sheets and anything dried out in the garden.

I use Persil non bio for the children. Personally I prefer not to have a smell.
There are some washing powder smells which might smell really lovely to some people but are down right offensive when sitting next to them in a car!

My favourite is Lavender but I use speedily non-biological.

Hate synthetic scenty pong, especially when it's coming out of the neighbours tumble dryer extractor, and stinking my terrace!! Use Ecover wash liquid. Lovely subtle lavender. Men don't want shirts stinking of sweet scent!

Hello Tom,

Orange blossom sounds lovely.. but I use Fairy non bio liquid... I was at a former clients house styling her home... I could smell her laundered washing hanging in a spare bedroom... The "Butler" told me what it was and I have never used anything else since.. It's often on sale too at Waitrose.. So it was a bargain sniffed out in more ways than 1! : ))

Certain ones can be like that, I agree. however, lavender keeps the moths from your clothes and is a lovely natural garden smell. i use Ecover wash and softener for my grandchildren's clothes, when helping their mum's.

Sunshine! There is an Aussie powder that just smells fresh and clean, it's called sunshine and it reminds me of clothes warm off the line.

Some of the most dreadful chemicals around are used in the manufacture of many products. Softeners in washing machines in particular.

In like washing to smell line dried. I find other people's clothes sometimes really stink of washing powder. A bit like walking down the laundry aisle of the supermarket.

I don't like strong smelling laundry. I use Fairy non-bio liquitabs and no conditioner. Weather permitting I line dry. I stopped using condition when an old washing machine stopped collecting it, and found it didn't really make any noticeable difference, so I've saved money, cupboard space, and avoided strong smells.
I bought a supermarket own-brand bio tab box recently thinking I'd use it for the white sheets but I couldn't bear the smell of it so got rid of it.

Ecover has the most lovely subtle lavender scent. Natural rather than sickly synthetic. Fabric conditioner should be banned - it stinks!
