Is the control panel easy to open?

Do you push the panel or do you have to grab it by the edge with your nails. Anyone know the ins and outs of this.

Hi Robert - appreciate the comment. Floor Layout plan attached. The area of concern is the living area - the kitchen/dining are in the new extension and there will be a glass panel going across the extension ceiling in the kitchen area. Even with the glass in the ceiling and the bifold doors at the back, I still feel the light in the living area will be very limited. We spend a lot of time in the living area and our current living area we are living in is always flooded with sun which I am going to miss! I was thinking of putting a couple of LED white light panels on the utility wall to act as an artificial "glazed window" which can bring some artificial daylight. Any feedback appreciated Many Thanks

Hi Gabby, Well after a bit of research and speaking to my electrician re the infra red panels, it was decided to give them a miss. However, that then meant that we had not planned for UF heating so we ended up having to have high output rads on what few walls we had left! Bit of a pain really. We have pipes going to the island if we ever want plinth heaters (although they are a bit noisy as operate using fans - even for the plumbed in ones!) to give us more heat in the middle of the room. To be honest, the rooms are quite warm during the winter days when the sun is out so we only have to worry about evenings and cold winter where our log burner will be on anyway. If we could go back, we would have had wet UF heating put in the new extension. Wouldn’t bother with electric as too expensive and cheaper just to have rads put in

What did everyone do re aircon or blinds? We were considering renting our house out at some point but it gets hot in summer which is not an issue for living here as you can open the doors slightly and it cools straight away but for guests - it's not that easy. Thinking of blackout blinds for sleeping but are there sheer ones which keep the light but reflect the heat?? Also aircon - anything not big and ugly that would work in a large open plan room?

I completely missed that! LOL. Mornings ;0) - the door will indeed be painted the same colour. I just took it off to paint all the door frame and it’s on my list for the next rainy day (been starting the garden tidy up now the patio is done as it’s a mess!) Only pain is that from the hallway it will be painted a lighter colour so now I have to sand down all the drips on it and the frame as I made a mess, ha ha. Would have loved dark doors in the hall BUT it’s a tiny space with barely any natural light and has 5 doors in it!! (Bungalow) pfff. All wood so have to paint them (horrified smiley face inserted here!!)
