Staining/colouring oak floor without sanding?

Hello, I have honey oak engineered floor in my living room and hallway. It is quite orange-y and i'd prefer something more grey/ashy. Replacing it is not an option, nor is refinishing as our budget for this is extremely small!

Do you know if there is a wax or stain or rub of some kind which can be applied to wooden flooring to alter the colour?

If it is untreated and has nothing on it whatsoever there are many options. I have just put down unfinished wide oak planks and have treated them with a white Osmo tinted oil. You can brush it on and leave it or you can remove the excess after 20 minutes to give a sunbleached look. You then apply a coat of Osmo clear and you are done. The Osmo website gives lots of technical support and they are generally very good quality products.

Fiddes hard wax oil, Osmo, Briwax amongst others, however, as per colourhappy's advice, you need to sand first.

I think I have these same doors (but mine are from vibrant doors). I have natural wood floors so I used the same product on the doors - Osmo 'raw' and then Osmo clear oil. The raw keeps the doors looking like natural wood and then the clear is there to protect. It's pretty easy to do, follow the instructions regarding drying time. Give the doors a light sand to remove any rough bits and then apply the raw. When dry, give the lightest sand possible and then apply the top coat. My tip would be to purchase one of these containers to store your oiled brushes in, the oil is very difficult to clean out so if you keep the brushes in one of these they stay soft. Thank you honey poppet. Those photos are excellent and are just what I had in mind. To colourhappy: In answer to your question the floors in the bedrooms are very dark oak. They undulate quite a bit and have gaps and ridges. Hard to get a decent photo because the rooms are full of packing cases but I have attached some of the upper room and first floor hall.

Green is not a colour I'd usually go to, but green grey could be ok. I'll have a look into that one too. It's quite a dark room because the long living-dining room leads into a conservatory, so the dining rooms windows are all now internal.
