Paint or not to paint, or HOW to paint?

This is a design dilemma that I can't seem to make a decision over. The RSJ in the kitchen where the old external wall used to be - how do you think that we should paint it.

Ceiling - white Wall with clock - Skipping Stone (kinda grey'ish) Other wall - Olive (has the tester on it) I suppose the main questions are:

  • Walls the solid colour and the roof bit of RSJ in white ?
  • Walls solid colour and all RSJ in white (running down the grey wall)
  • If we go white RSJ, where do i stop/start the colour (pic 1 red lines)
  • Walls solid colour and RSJ all in olive running over the wall and down the grey wall. (strip of colour running over the ceiling and down the wall)
  • Front and back sides of RSJ in olive, and bottom and internal part white

I just don't have a clue what the usual way of doing this would be. Personally, I have a hunch that I like the green band coming from the olive wall, over the ceiling, and down the skipping stone.
