POLL: Copper - hot or not?
Comments (18)Copper, the blushing, timeless metal. It's definitely hot! We love the way the patina changes over time. Our copper ware works well in contemporary, industrial and rustic settings. It's hand beaten by coppersmiths from Indian NGO, Intach, using a technique dating back to the seventeenth century. The tiny indentations on the copper reflect and radiate light....See MoreHouzz Advent Calendar: December 20th -Win a gold cutlery set by Within

Comments (10)Hello bloubergbelle, Think the flooring is fabulous... Don't hide it with a rug!... I personally really like the dark idea.. and don't think this is just a trend or a phase that's on it's way out.. You can create dramatic interiors with both paint and paper. I would paint the panel inside the fire surround a charcoal and the surround black OR possibly consider painting this to compliment what you do with the walls... So maybe you want a darker green and then paint the fire surround an even darker green to compliment.. The skirting and picture rails could be treated in the same way as could the window frames in the darker green to compliment the lower wall colour.. You have no dado but that doesn't matter.... You could carry the dark wall colour from skirting up to a masked dado height and then just change colours up to picture rail... On a theme of course in this case for suggestion another complimentary green or a greyish green.. but.. could be a really nice way to add drama and break up the heights.. Something like Whitening for the ceiling and above the picture rail so this is treated as one... Mirror for over the mantlepiece and then think textures.. Velvet sofa?... Chesterfield?... some burnt ochres or rust colours would be fantastic with the green theme.... Rust velvet sofa or dark green.. Either of these would compliment the walls or flooring.. Some dark wooden furniture to further compliment.. Teal is another colour for the walls that would be wonderful as would Basalt by Little Greene : ))...See MoreHouzz Pros: Share your trend predictions for 2017
Comments (26)I predict there will be a continued appetite for pale/ white interiors which will fuel innovative ways of delivering this with more finishes and layered whites for interest. I think kitchen cabinets will stay pale but be available in silk or two textured finishes as they move away from gloss and lacquered finishes. Available woods will become paler and more Nordic. I think we will see more textured wall finishes such as wall panels and I think lighting will become more sophisticated allowing us to select warm or cool white from our lighting sources depending on outside light levels and time of day. I think the new metal will be burnished brass and available in kitchen handles, light switches and accessories. I predict a warm summer and inevitably greater spend on outside living with French chic plates and glasswear and more solutions to keep us in the garden with increased choices of patio heaters and soft lighting to enjoy lazy summer evenings and cooler mornings. Let's check in a years time and see if anything came true? I hope so. switches and accessories....See MoreBathroom + Kitchen Eleven
