Curtains too dark?

Hello, I'm about to move into a new house that has the below bedroom in, we'll be changing the decoration and I was thinking to paint the walls a light grey, with white furniture and grey curtains - I bought some curtains today but I've hung them up in my current bedroom and think they might be a bit dark? Another opinion would be really useful! Thanks

i personally dont think your curtains will look dark especially with a light grey walls

You don't say much about how you want the room to feel (other than to continue being cosy presumably). So with just the photo to base it on I would like you to consider taking inspiration from the lovely pink of the flowers in the photo and go with a bright fuschia-like shot of colour in floor length curtains (not too long, though, just elegantly sitting on the floor) heavy material (a brocade, or felt wool perhaps). Then put a splash of orange into the room too (cushions are great) and accessorise with navy and charcoal grey throws. Good luck.

Hello Becky, Given the two rooms have contrasting decor. I would keep to this theme and blend the windows in to the walls they sit on. I like the shutters... So I would consider a slatted blind for the dark end of the room with fabric strips (Tapes) You can now buy slatted blinds in all colours either wooden or faux, and so matching to the wall would be in my opinion the most stylish option. Most blind companies will send you some sample pieces so you can match to your walls.. you can also choose the strips to compliment or stand out.. In your case I would choose compliment.. In this way the room is seen as a whole... So the eyes do not dark directly to the window.... :))

Hi everyone, thank you for all the comments and advice. We have decided to go for it! Must admit we bith said ok, lets jut do grey and whites.. but I see farrow and ball paint Stifkey blue and just couldn't get the original idea out of my head! Family think we're crazy.. but I don't mind. And if it does look small, who cares! It's our bedroom! orderEd some new flooring, wood effect wallpaper (for one window wall) and furniture! Bit of a wait on furniture- 4 weeks.. but soon as it's all done I will post pictures! Thanks everyone for giving me the confidence to do it! just have to order some curtains etc now- although thinking pale cream wooden blinds??

If you’re looking for dark blues, look at Craig and Rose’s Payne’s Grey. Despite the name it is actually the most beautiful shade of deep blue with a hint of grey. I spent months agonising over blues but then got fed up in lockdown and got the Payne’s Grey, despite worrying that it would be too grey for such a dark corner. it is the perfect colour, and I’m looking forward to using it on walls elsewhere. It’s also usually cheaper than F&B and similar if not better quality.

Hi there, I also do not think they will look bad. With nice light walls and reflective white furniture, they should look good.

Do add pictures when you are finished :)

They should like great against a lighter grey wall, you also have the added advantage of an abundance of natural light from the 2 windows.
