Comments (23)I would suggest keep the floor and worktop as they look in good condition and not really out dated. what is the cabinet door made of? if they are melamine, it may be difficult to change to a designer color other than the off the shelf cabinet paint colour. if you do have the choice, consider some classic designer color. Farrow and Ball, Benjamin Moore will be a good starting point. you may consider color in white, grey or sage tone. As you have a shaker kitchen, it is much easy to work with and won't be out dated for a long time. I attached a couple of photos of shaker kitchen in Farrow and Ball with wood worktop. the first one is in Blue Gray, second one in cornforth white. as for the wall tiles, you may consider clad them with IKEA backsplash, paint them with tile paint or even stencil them. if you are willing to do some more complex work, replace them with some subway tiles off eBay. but I would always be cautious of removing old stuff as you never know what you will find or damage and the cost can easily escalate....See MoreWhich paint for kitchen (white cabinets, black worktop, wooden floor)
Comments (4)I always like white units and wood, so great that the floor is wood so you could add more wood with shelving and chopping boards. Pic below. Or a mid grey can look nice like the second pic which is Dulux Chic Shadow....See MoreBudget kitchen refresh - help and advice!
Comments (16)I suggest finding a nice local carpenter to help with cabinets etc. They will be able to come up with imaginative ways of upgrading and using as much of your own things as possible. I had an ok but boring Magnet kitchen with laminate doors. I wanted new doors and after spending an entire morning in the local franchise of Dream Doors, they eventually refused to come out and look at my kitchen when I said that my budget was under £5k. I priced up new doors online and then found a local carpenter. When he came round, I explained what I wanted and that my real dream was to have an “in-frame” look. He laughed, told me to scrap my ideas of buying new doors and instead he made entire new fronts that look a million times better than anything I could get off the shelf. It was also a fraction of the price!! My kitchen isn’t perfect (i find it too dark. - but that’s another story and not to do with the carpenter!!) - however it’s high quality, completely bespoke and an absolute bargain! Here’s my before and after.......See MoreWainscot Solutions, Inc.
