Please Help Me Improve My Bedroom.

Hi, guys. I am struggling with my bedroom as it is quite plain. I have attached pictures of what it currently looks like. There are built in wardrobes in the room (not mirrored) and MALM chest of drawers on one end. I love the whole Grey-Yellow-White thing but I almost feel it isn't enough. Any advice would be appreciated! I've also attached my Inspiration Pic xx

If the blue is a colour you're after then Farrow and Ball have a few that instantly spring to mind (can't name the actual colours off the top of my head). Also, Dulux' new Heritage Range offer a great selection. In my
opinion trying to compete with F&B's colours but offering a better coverage.

Hi thank you for responding! I am looking to go the grey way, on the wall my headboard is resting. What colours do you suggest?

Do you like it cozy modern ? Or just plain modern ?. The bedding looks great if your Into these colours I suggest trying to add more vibrant colors. Orange, gold, silver. You could try replacing the brown cabinet to a white table in the corner near your bed, add more metallic accessories and decor. I was thinking of putting some decor on top of your bed, how about this?. & if you wanted to make it more spacey I suggest putting a couple of mirrors. :) sorry for a lot of babbling though. xx

I think the bedding is pretty, Marta, and you just need to tie it in to the rest of the room - and get some more pillows! A patterned cushion on the little chair will work wonders and art work - when you can manage it - that is bigger and has some brightness to it. I prefer the white curtains - the navy is too solid and heavy. If you put your nice ottoman back in there under the window - again with a throw or colourful cushion - and try the chest of drawers at the foot of your bed (when you have some strength and aren't tired) the furniture will look better. I like the idea of chandelier bedside lamps. If you do that, get one much taller than what you have now. What is your overhead lighting? There are nice round chandelier type shades you can get that'll throw the light around the room nicely. I still covet your lovely dresser :)

Ok so your taste is a little more traditional. I still think greens and possibly duck egg blues will compliment that colour of wood as per these photos. If you want something a little warmer you could try a darker wine colour? You could try an Internet search for traditional style hotel bedrooms for inspirational ideas.

Hi. Pretty much any colour will go as beige is neutral. I've just had a look in your Ideabook and you seem to favour neutrals with maybe a hint of purple or pink. I'd do something like the Oliver burns pic. Try Dulux just walnut for the walls. Go white for the bedding then add cushions and a throw in the mix of grey/beige and the mauve. I can't really see how the curtains would hang from the pics but if there is limited space to draw them back then don't go too dark on the curtains but keep them neutral. Add a patterned cushion to the chair in the mauve (can this be positioned elsewhere?) and also a light rug with lots of texture under the bed. I agree would add bedside cabinets and lamps.

Do you have the room to move the bed across a little and have two bedside cabinets with lamps? You have something out of shot on the right, but it's a long way from the bed.

You could always add art or a mirror above the bed after that. I think it looks lovely.

Hi Tino!

I see what you mean, it is missing a little something. A few things you could do:

1) You mentioned a grey-yellow-white theme and your inspiration pic also goes that way but in your actual room there is no sign of the yellow. What it would do is bring depth and points that your eyes will naturally focus on when you look at your room. When you don't have that it's easy to feel like the room is plain. Especially if you look at your third picture (just the bed) it's very pastel, almost faded so bring some contrast.

2) Your light fitting to me is just too plain, it's very standard looking so I would go for something a little more unique, without going crazy of course but even a glass one for example like this:

3) The third thing is that currently your bed is a little lost in the room, against a white background. I would add bedisde tables and table lamps and more importantly I would put wall art up, maybe a couple of square pictures above the bed or one large one. That will also instantly change the feel of the room. Maybe something geometric to tie in with your (very cool btw) carpet.
