Floor to ceiling installations (or at least as big as you can) really fool the eye into believing there is more space. As Fay says less frame the better, but to add a touch of class without too much distraction the odd beveled edge can work wonders. Also check out the smoke shades of mirror if you want a more subtle idea. This small entrance hallway example hides a hidden "escape" door to a bathroom.

Round mirror would look best probably. Habitat have some good looking mirrors which are modern and stylish. Have a look at this Cohen one which is fun and would look good against the background. sianember - Love the mirrors! They bring back happy memories. I have a business 'upcycling' furniture - although I've been doing it for over 20 years now and recycling was hardly a thing, let alone upcycling, in those days :D - but I started out selling mirrors on Greenwich market. A friend and I would find old mirrors in junk shops (this was in the halcyon days when every high street had at least one, sadly they are few and far between now) and we would 'pimp' them and sell them. We were particularly fond of using shells as they were free, meant we got to spend a day at the seaside and we could use the children to collect them!

Toughened vs non-toughened have been a dilemma for kitchen owners for a while. The objective truth is that yes toughened glass is stronger and heat resistant, but due to significant price difference sometimes it makes sense to take risk and just replace mirror in case of breakage, which will still be cheaper than buying full toughened from the beginning, especially taking in consideration that non-tgh antique is stock product and you don’t need to wait for 2-3 weeks for production. If you are looking for simple coloured or printed glass, then definitely go for toughened since price difference is insignificant and it’s not only safer and heat resistant, but also 4-5 times stronger to impact which is good against accidental hits. The other important fact is that broken mirror can bring you bad luck for 7 years!:) so only choose professionals for your installation. We are now producing probably over 100 splashbacks per month with fair share of toughned mirrors so happy to help!
