Need help creating image of garden plot

Is it possible to:

1. take a photo of desired the garden space.

2. Remove current planting

3. Replace with desired plants

Desperately struggling to visualise what I want to do

If you want privacy at the front of your home to stop people to seeing in, then you could either change your gates to completely enclosed the area and have a CCTV system set up so visitors can alert you when they arrive. Or preferably, you could separate the two drives by erecting a fence between the two garage doors and plant a nice tall hedge 3/4 of the way along the front boundary to obscure the view of the main house. You could then reverse round the hedgerow and park the car at an angle so it is partially obscured by the hedgerow, with CCTV and security lights shining down from the top of the garage to give you peace of mind. It would be lovely to remove the gates and be able to look out of your front door and see the hedgerows, and they would also help to muffle the sound of the traffic

I do like Sven's idea of the blue palm ( chamaerops Humilis cerifera ), but maybe not in a pot as they do get very large. It would have to go in place of the tree as they can reach heights of 3 m x 2m wide. However, it would look nice with your front door, but maybe in a stone circle. You can't really put honeysuckle ( lonicera ), in the borders unless it's against the fence and you run wires for it, but i think your fence is probably too low. Lilac in white and pink or mauve would be better Depending on variety again, they're prolific growers, but will cover a fence in no time and smell fabulous. I'd have a stone circle in the middle and then a curved bed at the front with some higher plants, foxgloves, Iris, Japanese Anemonies etc at the back for height, some giant double pink poppies, weigela, candytuft to break it all up and get some white in amongst the pinks, purples and blues. All would look lovely with grey stone and your front door. All of the pics are of my own plants, I'd like to take credit for our garden, but it's my wife's domain, she's passionate about her plants and loves Pink, white, blue, purple, mauve etcWigela

the layout and planting ideas are great, thank you. the garden is south facing, so the evening sun is on the triangular area nearest the front door. I put bamboo screening up but there's a footpath the other side of the metal fence, and it got vandalised so often that I gave up. ditto the few fence panels we had put up against the metal fence to give us some privacy. it's council and of course they refuse to erect a decent fence, or facilitate some sort of system where we pay them back in instalments. I dont expect handouts, I'd have a 6' high fence put up tomorrow if I could afford it. hiring a skip is also out of my budget, so I've gradually been taking stuff to the tip or burning it. I have kids and pets including chickens, and although I'd like to think I'll grow some veg in the raised beds, I know I'll never get round to it! the sheds: one small one is a potting shed, the other small one in the corner chicken run is storage, and the big one is supposed to be a workshop but is currently crammed with stuff that needs sorting and storing or chucking, including all my tools, garden tools, kids toys, camping stuff, etc etc. I'm sure you get the picture! there are 2 greenhouses and umpteen raised beds, stacks of bricks, wood, bits of shed panelling, old Windows etc, because my husband had lots of plabd for the garden and did loads of growing veg etc, but never got round to finishing anything. in his defence this is Wales, it rains all the bloody time, and of course there are never enough hours in the day. however, we have recently separated, so I now find myself staring in horror at the whole overwhelming project, scratching my head, wondering where the hell to start, and then closing my eyes and pretending it's not there.

Hi Alex A blank space - and a great one too! West is best so you are going to have a lot of options, not only how you'd like to use the space, but also so many plants, trees and shrubs are going to love your space. My advice is to sit down with a cold beer/chilled glass of something nice and imagine yourself in that space and how you'd actually use it. If you aren't a keen gardener, you do probably don't want high maintenance. Grass needs cutting at leat once a week in the growing season, so if you'd rather be doing something else, think more about different hard landscaping options. Gardens really need some thought as although they are cheaper than interiors (by and large) per square foot, they can also be extremely disruptive to put right if you decide you don't like your new paving/garden studio/shed somewhere down the line! A pink interior wall you hate can be repainted easily - gardens have to be dug up! Beth Chatto famously created her garden garden out of an area of old car park, so your tennis court might be perfect for a low maintenance drought garden. Could be modern or traditional - whatever makes you happy. Remember your garden is there to please no-one else but you... Feel free to get in touch for advice. Lucy
