Guest room dilemma

Hi, we have small guest room that we want to make the most of. Me and my partner regularly work from home and we often have family and friends visiting us. The dilemma is we want to be able to have 2 guest staying over in the room while also having 2 desks. I have made a paper model but can't figure out how it all can fit. Any ideas??
The room has a high window far away from entrance, starting at 150 cm above floor level. And 1 radiator starting 80 cm away from the corner. No internal door has been installed yet.

Comments (7)Hi Jo, I think you are right about the bedsheets, seem to draw your eye instantly to the bed rather than the whole aesthetic. I think you would be better off, going for crisp white bedsheets or stripes and introduce another warm toned colour like cream or beige throw. You want to add a bit more texture too, maybe layer up the throws linen, wool? Give it a cosy vibe. As you have a modern look going on I would also go for modern artwork and it doesn't necessarily need to be green and white, unless of course that is the look you are going for? I think the art work needs to be the statement piece in this room and will add a strong focal point. Art is subjective, find something that speaks to you. 6 years agoHi again, the dimensions on your plan were a bit difficult to read, so I hope I got them right, but perhaps this would work. I went to IKEA and got a small double sofa bed http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/sofas-armchairs/sofa-beds-chair-beds/lycksele-håvet-two-seat-sofa-bed-ebbarp-black-white-spr-29149920/
And I thought you could put a long wooden top on three of IKEA's Alex drawer units. Perhaps some billy units on the other wall for more storage. If you don't want to fix anything on the wall, the lower versions would be safer.
And I just thought that you can perhaps put a chest of drawers next to the bed, under the window, for you guest's clothes, but haven't tried that/put it in the floor plan.
I think that with careful measuring, this might work. I put the bed half in/ half outside the room, to show you the size when you fold the sofa out. It will be about as wide as the sofa.

6 years agoThe app I use is called MagicPlan.
To give you more space at the desk, I've removed the drawer units. And I added a Kalyan storage unit. If you put it on wheels, you can place it across from the sofa bed if that's not in use as a bed. I also put a small wardrobe in the bottom corner. Measuring is the key here. And tape things out on the floor, so you can get an idea of how much space it will take up.
I'm envisioning office chairs like that, but feel free to ignore them :-)
